In 1992 a group of professionals concerned about the safety and healthy conditions of the Nigerian environment and the sustainable development of Nigeria came together to establish Anpez Centre for Environment and Development then referred to as Anpez Environmental Law Centre. In 1999the Centre was incorporated with the Corporate Affairs Commission under Part C of the Company and Allied Matters Decree as an Incorporated Trustee with registration number 11,892.

Anpez is an independent non-profit sharing organization of professionals specialized in and dedicated to the sustainable development of the Nigerian Environment, and the improvement of its Economic, Political and Social Status
Mission:

To promote the safety and sustainable development of the human and natural environment through research, awareness creation, capacity building and development activities in partnership with the local community, government, civil society, multilateral organisations and the private sector.

The objectives of Anpez include;

The sustainable development of Nigeria in general and Niger Delta in particular.
The economic and political empowerment of youths, women and children.
Provision of leverage for the less privileged to be able to compete with their peers.
    Creation of an environment that encourages and enables the ultimate expression of human potentials.
