About Anpez:

In 1992 a group of professionals concerned about the safety and healthy conditions of the Nigerian environment and the sustainable development of Nigeria came together to establish Anpez Centre for Environment and Development then referred to as Anpez Environmental Law Centre. In 1999the Centre was incorporated with the Corporate Affairs Commission under Part C of the Company and Allied Matters Decree as an Incorporated Trustee with registration number 11,892.

Anpez is an independent non-profit sharing organization of professionals specialized in and dedicated to the sustainable development of the Nigerian Environment, and the improvement of its Economic, Political and Social Status

Mission:

To promote the safety and sustainable development of the human and natural environment through research, awareness creation, capacity building and development activities in partnership with the local community, government, civil society, multilateral organisations and the private sector.

The objectives of Anpez include;

  1. The sustainable development of Nigeria in general and Niger Delta in particular.
  2. The economic and political empowerment of youths, women and children.
  3. Provision of leverage for the less privileged to be able to compete with their peers.
  4. Creation of an environment that encourages and enables the ultimate expression of human potentials.

Funding mecahnisms

The funds available to Anpez for administration and the implementation of her programmes are derived from two distinct sources:

Internally generated fund
Anpez offers some professional and technical services to select client, these clients pay for services rendered to them. Other sources of income generation include Information and Library Services, training and capacity building, publishing (Books, Newsletters etc) and investments.

Donor funds;
Anpez works with diverse donor agencies that have similar programme objective with Anpez. The Donors often provide funds to Anpez to carry out programmes often in line with agreed processes and procedures.

Mentoring of SPDC host Communities under the SPDC GMOU Community interface programme

Ongoing, Anpez is mentoring 48 communities in Cawthorn Channel Area and Etche 1 and 2 Area. Over 56 development projects and activities has been facilitated by Anpez in the 48 communities.

Establishment and Training of Ward Development Committees in the 12 wards of Ilaje on the UNDP Niger Delta Local Development Programme in Ilaje Local Government Area of Ondo State.
